The PAV 54 list celebrates the executives, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, diplomats and institutional leaders demonstrating measurable influence across Africa. Representing the continent’s 54 nations, the list documents the people building stronger industries, mobilising investment, creating employment, shaping policy and expanding Africa’s position within the global economy.

Our Purpose
The PAV 54 exists to:
- Document the leaders advancing Africa’s economic development.
- Recognise excellence in African enterprise, leadership and institution-building.
- Inspire future generations through credible examples of leadership and achievement.
- Strengthen the visibility of African ideas, businesses and institutions internationally.
Who We Recognise
The PAV 54 considers leaders working across the public, private and institutional sectors, including:
Banking, finance and investment, government, policy and diplomacy, energy and natural resources, technology and innovation, Agriculture and food systems, real estate and construction, hospitality, tourism and aviation, healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing and consumer industries, media and the creative economy, education and human capital, philanthropy and social enterprise
Candidates may be based within Africa or internationally, provided their work makes a clear and meaningful contribution to Africa’s economic future.
Selection Criteria
Every application and nomination is considered against five principal areas.
Economic Impact
Evidence that the candidate has contributed to business growth, job creation, investment, trade, industry development or broader economic opportunity.
Institutional Leadership
A demonstrated ability to build, transform or strengthen organisations, companies, public institutions or industry platforms.
Continental Relevance
Work that has significance beyond an individual position or organisation and contributes to wider African progress.
Innovation and Vision
The introduction of new ideas, strategies, technologies, business models or approaches that address important opportunities or challenges.
Integrity and Credibility
A record of responsible leadership supported by credible public information, professional references and editorial verification.
Additional consideration may be given to the scale, sustainability and long-term value of the candidate’s contribution.
Eligibility
Applicants and nominees must:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of submission.
- Hold a leadership, executive, entrepreneurial, public service or institutional role.
- Demonstrate a meaningful connection to Africa through their work or impact.
- Provide sufficient evidence to support the claims made within the application.
- Be available to participate in the editorial verification process if shortlisted.
- Applicants must be of African heritage, decent or hold residency from an Africa country.
How the Process Works
1. Applications and Nominations
Candidates may apply directly or be nominated by someone else.
2. Eligibility Review
The Pan-African Voice editorial team reviews each submission to confirm eligibility, relevance and the availability of supporting information.
3. Research and Verification
Shortlisted candidates undergo further editorial research. This may include reviewing company records, media coverage, professional achievements, public announcements and independent references.
Candidates may be contacted to provide additional information or clarification.
4. Editorial Assessment
Eligible candidates are assessed against the published selection criteria by the Pan-African Voice editorial team and invited advisers where appropriate.
5. Final Selection
The final 54 honourees are selected based on demonstrated impact, credibility, relevance and the overall strength of their contribution.
6. Publication and Recognition
Selected honourees are formally notified on the day of public announcement.
The PAV 54 will be published through a dedicated digital feature and may also appear in a special edition of Pan-African Voice, editorial profiles, social media features and related recognition events.
What to Include in Your Application
A strong submission should clearly explain:
- Who the candidate is and the position they currently hold.
- The organisation, institution or initiative they lead.
- Their most important achievements during the assessment period.
- The measurable economic, institutional or societal impact of their work.
- Why their contribution matters to Africa’s future.
- Relevant figures, milestones, projects or outcomes.
- Links to credible supporting sources.
- Contact details for references or verification where available.
Applications should focus on evidence rather than general statements or promotional language.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I nominate myself?
Yes. Self-applications and third-party nominations are both accepted and assessed using the same criteria.
Is there an application fee?
There is no fee to apply or nominate a candidate.
Can an organisation nominate more than one person?
Yes. However, each candidate must have a separate submission demonstrating their individual contribution.
Does each African country receive one place?
No. The number 54 represents the continent’s 54 nations, but selection is based entirely on merit and demonstrated impact.
Will every applicant receive feedback?
Due to the expected volume of submissions, Pan-African Voice may not be able to provide individual feedback to every applicant.
When will the final list be announced?
The 2027 PAV 54 will be announced on Africa Day May 25th 2027 through Pan-African Voice’s print, digital and social platforms.
